ABOUT US
Tapa Mill is a wood processing industry located in Tapa, Estonia.
The company was founded in 1999 and has developed over the years and specializes in further processing and adding value to sawn softwood.
Tapa exports to several countries worldwide.
Sawn wood is supplied, then Tapa Mill has the option of successively drying, finger-jointing, planing, impregnating and/or lacquering the wood.
The finger joint line as well as the planing mill are set on processing dried wood; all of the wet supplied wood is therefore first dried before further processed. Finger-jointed timber is produced in accordance with EN 15497:2014 for constructive/load-bearing applications.
Besides planing, Tapa Mill is specialized in making Feather edge boards. A product that is re-sawn diagonally after planing.
Tapa uses a separate line for recutting where in- and outfeed, recutting and packing are done automatically.
Then the processed product is preserved. This can be done in various ways:
-
By Pressure Impregnation.
-
By Painting
Pressure impregnation is done in an autoclave where chemicals mixed with water are absorbed into the wood through vacuum pressure. This process follows the guidelines of KOMO.
Painting of wood starts with a primer, then the wood is lacquered 2 or more times if desired. This process, both painting and drying, is fully automatic. This way Tapa Mill aims to achieve the highest and most consistent quality.
If Fire Class B is prescribed for a specific application, Tapa Mill offers the option of treating the wood (Facade or Battens) with a fire-retardant finish.
